It’s here the M2M Partner Event 2012 took place, having Deutsche Telekom, one of the largest European telecommunications companies and Gurtam’s partner, as its primary organizer.

The event once more has attracted numerous experts in the sphere of M2M solutions, not only to present reports on the most topical issues, but also to show their newest developments and products. Gurtam participated in the conference along with such major companies as Living Plan IT, Maingate, Digi International, Sierra Wireless, QNX Software Systems and some others. One of the activities on the agenda was the presentation of reports on machine-to-machine solutions. The speakers represented the leading communications providers, developers of M2M solutions and equipment makers such as Deutsche Telekom, Living Plan IT, Magyar Telekom, Metro Systems and others.

Gurtam haven’t missed the unique opportunity to visit this important event and at the same time to enjoy the sights of the lovely city. The company’s delegation came to Budapest one day earlier with a goal to hold some business meetings and enjoy the city’s beauty for a little longer. Gurtam representatives, having settled in one of the Hungarian capital’s best hotels named Kempinski Hotel Corvinus, went for an evening trip across Budapest; the city made an unforgettable impression on them.

M2M Partner Event’s organizers did their best to impress their guests, and they managed to do it, for sure. The whole thing took place in a railway museum with its special atmosphere. Conference activities such as sections and working groups were held in old-time carriages. To make the picture complete, an old steam train took all the guests to their destination. They got on board the train on Budapest central station, raising much publicity as lots of amazed city dwellers watched them go.

The first day of the exhibition was marked by presentation of reports by Chris Mattheisen of Magyar Telekom, Hungary’s leading mobile operator, Steve Lewis of Living Plan IT, a company engaged into development of technologies for creating smart urban environments, Dominique Bonte of ABI Research, Olga Prieb and Markus Breitba representing Deutsche Telekom and Bernd Kolb of The Marrakesh Academy. The topic that brought all the reports close together was the development and growth of M2M solutions market, as well as the field of M2M technology practical implementation.
Closer to the evening main action moved to Vam Design Center Budapest, where all the participants gathered for a stand-up reception. During the event Gurtam team members got a chance to talk informally to their colleagues and partners from М2М Telematics and Omnicomm.

Next day several other speakers took the floor, including Jason Cohenour of Sierra Wireless, Markus Breitbach of Deutsche Telekom and Dr. Gerd Wolfram of Metro Systems GmbH. Besides, the Portuguese company Living Plan IT team made a brilliant report related to the main sphere of its activity, namely, creation of “cities of the future” in which M2M technologies are used for building intelligent technical, social and economic infrastructure.

In Budapest railway museumLater on the participants could show their inventive abilities in the course of Creative Workshops: having splitted into groups, they applied all their knowledge and skills to work out the solutions for automated control systems that could turn into reality in ten years’ time. The brightest ideas included a “smart house” designed to make its owners’ life more comfortable by meeting him with his favorite music, dishes, and even clothes. Perhaps right now it’s impossible to imagine these ideas turn into reality, however, we might see them implemented in a few years.

Gurtam participated actively in all the conference activities, including working groups and discussions, made a presentation of its latest developments, including Wialon GPS tracking and fleet management system. Booth visitors could see all the features of the updated Wialon Hosting platform and the company’s latest development – Wialon Kit .

At the end of the event, a discussion was held on the perspectives of M2M technologies. All the participants joined the opinion that the discussed problems are quite topical, expressed their willingness to further share their ideas and participate in such conferences. Organizers, in their turn, thanked the representatives of all companies for active participation and wished them success in the exciting and challenging M2M business.
