One of the crucial events in the sphere of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) technologies – M2M Evolution Conference & Expo 2013, which was held from January 29 till February 1 in Miami Beach Convention Center came to an end. This year Gurtam team could also be found among the vast audience of conference participants, including leading wireless carriers, application providers, platform companies and device manufacturers from all over the world. Several days ago our colleagues, Gurtam CEO Aliaksei Shchurko and Aliaksandr Kuushynau, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, returned from Miami and shared the gained experience and achieved results.
This year leading world experts in transportation, security and automobile manufacturing industry discussed further M2M development strategies for 2013, as well as considered how M2M technologies and the concept of «Internet of Things» can be used to improve business processes, lower the risks, promote innovational developments and get significant revenue. According to experts, only the U.S. market of next-generation M2M solutions alone is expected to grow from 27 mln connections today to more than 120 mln connections by the year 2017.
M2M Evolution 2013 paid special attention to M2M applications within all vertical markets and, in particular, highlighted specific applications in transportation, energy and healthcare sectors. For example, during the second conference day the audience attention was fully drawn to the report of John Sculley, an American businessman, entrepreneur and investor in high-tech startups, who held the position of a vice-president and president of PepsiCo, as well as the CEO of Apple. John told the audience about his unique experience of working in a world’s largest IT company and longstanding working relationship with Steve Jobs. In his presentation John Sculley mentioned the companies he invests in now and how the country’s medical/healthcare problems can be solved with technology using the cloud.
During the conference our colleagues held fruitful negotiations with many different companies from North and South America. We’d like to emphasize that this year our specialists at Gurtam booth were working together with Ares Sun — Gurtam silver partner in Central America — it helped to set up active communication with Spanish-speaking audience that was huge at the conference this year. Jorge Valladares, Ares Sun CEO, shared his positive experience of using Wialon GPS tracking system and told about successful examples of Gurtam software implementation in various M2M business spheres. Within the framework of the conference Gurtam managed to get acquainted with many American device manufacturers, who expressed great interest in integration with Wialon, as well as to meet those companies, which have already been integrated, such as Xact and SkyWave.
It’s a known fact that today wireless carriers become major players at the international M2M market. According to world-renowned experts, the number of connected devices, interacting with applications and management systems by means of mobile networks, will reach approximately 50 billion by the year 2020. In America a huge part in the development of large M2M projects belongs to mobile companies, such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Vodafone and Sprint. Our colleagues had a good chance to communicate with the representatives of these companies and discuss the potential and prospects of working together.
After the end of the conference, Aliaksandr Kuushynau highlighted:
«М2М Evolution, surely, is a very useful event that opened new development perspectives for us at modern fast growing M2M market.
