«AKULA YACHTING — 2013» or Wialon under sail

Annual business regatta AKULA YACHTING — 2013, organized by Perm Region Yachting Federation Here I am again with the latest sports news, this time — water sports news. Last week, on August 10, Gurtam partner in Perm, GalileoSky, performed as an official sponsor and technical partner of the annual business regatta AKULA YACHTING — 2013, organized by Perm Region Yachting Federation mainly for the representatives of Perm region business and political circles.

This year the regatta is held for the 6th time, and during this period 120 teams took part in the event, attracting the representatives of Perm Region Government, deputies of the Legislative Assembly and Perm City Duma, teams of the most active companies of Perm, Moscow, Yekaterinburg and other cities and regions.

On August 10, during «AKULA YACHTING — 2013» 19 teams competed in the territory of Kama Water Storage Reservoir at «Favorite» yacht club. The contest format was very simple — all those who wanted to learn and feel deeply what the yachting sport is, joined in teams, received yachts with experienced skippers, underwent three compulsory trainings under the surveillance of professionals, and then, properly equipped and ready, started the race.

Yachts were distributed among the participants by drawing lots, and, depending on size and construction, were divided by three scoring groups. The main award was given separately to the fastest yacht.

For the first time this year GalileoSky became the official sponsor of «AKULA YACHTING — 2013» business regattaThe regatta was opened by Alexey Sannikov — the president of Perm Region Yachting Federation, multiple winner of international regattas; double winner of the Russia Yachting Federation Cup in J80 class. The gala ceremony was attended by Alexey Tuchkin — handball double Olympic champion, former chief-executive of of Perm Region Government Nikolay Bukhvalov and the head of Emergencies Ministry major general Oleg Popov.

For the first time this year GalileoSky became the official sponsor of this business regatta, having equipped all the yachts with its tracker — GALILEOSKY GLONASS/GPS v5.0. The trackers send signal right to the Wialon Hosting server, providing the spectators with the possibility not only to see the race with their own eyes, but also at big plasma screens.

GalileoSky hardware and Wialon Hosting software provided all the spectators with the full info not only about the race in general, but also about each yacht separately. The covered distance, speed, coordinates and location – all these and many other parameters were displayed online, creating unique atmosphere of sports competition.

«AKULA YACHTING — 2013» award ceremonyThe weather didn’t favor the yachtsmen with the fair wind, and if the trainings underwent at the wind of 20 – 25 knots, regatta itself faced almost the dead calm. In these conditions it was possible to conduct only one defining race instead of the planned five. The fastest one during «AKULA YACHTING — 2013» was the yacht «Soyuz», which covered the planned distance less than in 2 hours.

After the results announcement GalileoSky regional development manager Julia Rokka awarded the prizes to the captains of the winning teams. Yachtsmen received GALILEOSKY GLONASS/GPS v5.0 trackers and certificates for their free installation by GalileoSky partner in Perm region. The same prize went to the president of Perm Region Yachting Federation Alexey Sannikov for «the development of yachting sport and embodiment of high sporting ideals».

In her speech Julia Rokka thanked the yachtsmen for their sporting courage and will-to-win spirit and noticed that GalileoSky in its business activity and relationships with partners adheres to the main sporting principles: honesty, continuous improvement and the drive for high ideals and victories. Further GalileoSky and Perm Region Yachting Federation plan to extend cooperation and take part in large-scale contests and competitions.
